Summer Solstice-Surfing With Smiles-First ESA Contest-
and Veteran's Count Fund raiser



And then, it was summer. The longest day of the year just so happened to fall on Day 3 of a three day swell. The remnants of the Father's Day Swell was still
pulsing. And we were once again greeted with waist plus surf. And while it never got bigger than head high, there was some beef on those that made it to shore. And those who are dialed in, made the right call at the right tide and scored some punchy little shoulder high crunchers.



This is Mikey Evans on one of his personal hand shaped boards that he makes himself. It's great watching him surf on all these special watercraft's.
This was Day 2. Like I said, it was quite punchy if you picked the right spot.

Summer Solstice is the kickoff for a number of Fun Surf related events.
like the first of three SURFING WITH SMILES nights.



For some, this event is the most fun of all. Judging by the number of volunteers I can see why. There's something special about working with these kids. It's such a wonderful experience for both the kids and the volunteers. And for anyone who has seen one of these nights, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Surfing With Smiles is exactly that.



These two are always smiling. And laughing. Heather and Dave both do so much for this program. It truly is amazing, what they do. There's a whole gallery below in the photo section of the first night. You should check it out.



This is Tara and her son Nick. Nick worked with my son Max, and he got a bunch of waves. I've got some good pics and good video of his rides.

The other Kick off Summer Event was the first ESA Contest.



The ESA is in their 50th Year! That's amazing. The contest went off without
a hitch. No rain, good enough surf, and plenty of contestants. Check out the gallery down in the photo section.



Speaking of 50 years. Honoring the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War,
I had the honor, and the privilege, to stand with my fellow Vietnam Veterans, as we were the Honorees, at the Black Tie Gala event "VETERANS COUNT. They raised over $500,000 last night to help veterans dealing with PTSD. They saved 111 vets from committing suicide last year alone here in NH.
An amazing, humbling, experience.



We all received this pin, and a document signed by President Obama.



Wish we had this kind of network when we came back. We were basically
on our own. Surfing Saved my life. I'm serious. I was slipping into the darkness. If not for surfing, and Rock and Roll, I don't believe I'd be here
today. I never would of met my beautiful wife, and had my 3 beautiful kids,
and two grandchildren. Thank God.

The news as of late has been borderline insane. It's hard to keep up with TRUMP TV. Every single day. But this? This story? I swear you can't make this shit up! And make no mistake, this is total bullshit.



The Serial rapist Bill Cosby got off by a hung jury. Now, that does not mean he's NOT guilty. It just means the jury couldn't get on the same page. Well, Old Pill Popping Bill has decided that he's going to go around the country and teach young men how not to get charged for sexual harassment. That's right.

What better person to represent those being charged with Sexual Harassment than Bill The Pill? This is like OJ saying he's going to
not stop until he finds the killer of his ex wife. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he was coached by OJ. Nothing surprises me.


KSM Photoshop of the Week
OK, so it should be no surprise to any of you reading this BLOG that our boy KSM wants in on the Cosby Pill Popping Tour. KSM feels that his knowledge of treating women like swine would come in handy with the "Cos" and the Cos is in agreement. Here they are both seen leaving the courtroom last week.

Great New Marine Forecast Site


We welcome all Surf Related pics from our Readers. Just make sure they are at least 900 pixels wide. If you have any OLD photos of local New England surfers and or of local New England surfing, we would love to see them and share them with our readers.

We can scan them for you. And we get them back to you undamaged. Trust me. We can do this. People love the older stuff. So if you have any, please send 'em along. If you have prints/slides we can scan them for you as well.

And we don't care if you shoot pics with your cellphones. I mean it. Most of the images you see on the news and on the Internet were shot with them Smart Ass Phones. So shoot first and ask questions later, just send the dam things.

JUNEASTER June 7-8-2017 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

The welcomed Nor'easter we got on June 6th, 2017 that gave us 3 solid days of waves. All the points, reefs, and beaches were firing. I shot from NH to ME. And while the overall conditions were not exactly ideal, the vibe in and out of the water was filled with laughter. Why do surfers have to be so cruel to one another, especially when watching your buds get smoked out in the water? I don't know, but it's always been that way. We hoot when someone gets a good wave, and we howl when someone eats shit. Ha...I'm smiling now just writing this.

This web edit is a first for me. The shooting was shared with Kyle Linseman's cool Drone footage. I can foresee a partnership working with Kyle. He's stoked about shooting the action. And make no mistake about it, Kyle can rip. So for him to sacrifice his own surf time to shoot, speaks volumes of his new found passion. The music is by Meshell Ndegeocello and John Digwood. I'm stoked about this one. Hope you will be too.

MOTHER'S DAY SWELL May 14-15-16-2017 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo. This is the web edit for the 3 Day Mother's Day Swell. It never really got bigger than head high. And it rained the first two days. Still, it was surf, and beggars can't be choosers now can we. I did the edit today after hearing about the death Chris Cornell, lead singer for Soundgarden. He had a great voice. It's ironic because I was looking for the right song to go with this edit. And I believe I found it with Black Hole Sun. The surfers that I can remember are: Kai Nichols, Tom Hay, Andy Elliott, Mikey Moran, Skip Brunette, Erik Zak, Kody Grondin, Chris Stelman, Max Fatello, Mikey Evans, and a handful I couldn't ID. This is for all the mothers. past, present, and future. And it's in memory of Chris Cornell.

The Forgotten Go Pro Footage 2014-2016 Part 1

This is a series of web edits that was all shot on my old GoPro. How old? Well it's the HERO II. So that's 3 GoPros ago. Did I just write that? I guess I did. Any way, this first edit was shot on the last day of Summer in 2014. The surfers are (that I can remember) : Perry Reynolds, Kai Nichols, Lenny Nichols, Mike Rosa, Zach Bru, Bryan Johnson, Kyle Linesman, Kenny Linseman, and a bunch of others. *You might want to take some Dramamine before watching this. It's all water shots, so no tripods were used. Music is by Trentemoller and Grenier.

More of the GoPro footage I had lying around. It's pretty much small wall footage. Though, it is noteworthy a the clips of Kevin Grondin were all shot on his birthday last Jun 23d, 2016. The rest is mostly empty waves with Mackey getting a few. The real cool thing about this web edit is. 50 years ago today, May 12th, 1967, The Jimi Hendrix Experience released their debut LP. This song was on that record. And I remember it all like it was yesterday. Funny thing is, the song is as current today as it was 50 years ago.
